Four employees of Morgal Machine Tool Company Inc. and Ohio Stamping & Machine, Inc. (OSMI) were recognized as the first people to be credentialed to Level III Stamping Skill Standards at a ceremony on July 21, 1998 in Springfield, Ohio.



Ohio Governor George V. Voinovich led the dignitaries honoring George Anzek and Tim Conkel from Morgal and Dave Buxton and Kevin Miller from OSMI. In his remarks, Gov. Voinovich stressed the importance of the National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) and other similar skill standards projects in developing the occupational skills needed to meet demands of a growing and more sophisticated workforce. Also speaking at the function were Dwight D. Kirk, vice president/general manager of Morgal; James B. McGregor, executive vice president of Morgal/OSMI; Jon E. Jenson, president of Precision Metalforming Association; Robert W. Sherman, executive director of NIMS; and Daniel P. McGregor, president of Morgal/OSMI.

In his closing remarks, Daniel McGregor said, "Certainly the marketplace demands our implementation of skill standards as it demands higher productivity and levels of uptime. The cost of equipment has increased along with its complexity. Modern press lines without a doubt, require fully trained operators."
