New England District: Plant Tour of Coastal Extreme Brewery
4:00 PM-7:30 PM (Middletown Tradesman Ctr., 307 Oliphant Ln., Middletown, RI)
Join the New England District of the Precision Metalforming Association for an enjoyable tour of Coastal Extreme Brewery located in Middletown, RI.

The Coastal Extreme Brewing Company was started in 1999 by four graduates of Colby College. During his college days the head brewer, Derek Luke, reacquired a home brewing kit he had given his sister and quickly went to work brewing and passing his knowledge along to the company's president, Brent Ryan. As graduation grew near and the cold reality of post-collegiate life set in Luke and Ryan knew that they could turn their affinity for beer and their new found ability to make it into a viable alternative to unemployment or sitting at a desk answering to "The Man". Of course, they couldn't do it by themselves, so after very little convincing, they got roommate and friends, Mark Sinclair and Will Rafferty to join them.

On Father's Day in 1999, after almost two years of planning and preparation, the first batch of Hurricane Amber Ale was brewed. By July 2nd the first kegs had been shipped to three Newport Restaurants and were quickly tapped and emptied. A little over a month after the release of the first kegs, 6-packs of Hurricane Amber Ale began to hit the shelves. Since then, they have expanded their product line and their distribution territory but continue to brew up a storm in the Middletown Brewery.
Register today, as space is limited! Attendees will have a chance to meet host and President, Brent Ryan, sample the brew and receive a Newport Storm shot glass. For more information on Coastal Extreme Brewery, please visit HYPERLINK "http://www.newportstorm.com" www.newportstorm.com . Must be 21 years of age to attend.

Sheetmetal Forming-Understanding the Properties
All Day (PMA Headquarters, Cleveland, OH)
This one-day seminar explains relative formability between different sheetmetal, using more advanced mechanical properties as the key to understanding their forming capability. These properties control forming limits of different forming modes, including stretching, bending, and drawing. A full range of steels covering yield strengths from 20 to 200 Ksi is examined, along with aluminum and other metals. By completing this seminar along with Sheetmetal 101 - Understanding the Metal and Higher-Strength Sheet Steels - Solving the Problems you will earn PMA's "Sheetmetal Certificate"!

Higher Strength Sheet Steels-Solving the Problems
All Day (PMA Headquarters, Cleveland, OH)
Increasing sheetmetal strength makes existing forming problems more severe and creates new ones. Seminar topics include reduced stretchability and bendability; increased springback; greater punch and blankholder loads; increased tool temperature and wear; greater press loads and energy requirements; blanking damage; and case studies. Changes in properties with strength create a foundation for understanding the different sheetmetal types and grades. The new AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steels) are included.
